The New Forest pigs bred for pannage are now of various breeds and the New Forest was the first home of the Wessex Saddleback unfortunately now extinct here.
The New Forest ponies best loved attribute is their inbred gentle nature. This calm disposition means they are the perfect choice and an ideal mount for all the family. The locals have raced them over the years with surprising success especially over rough ground.
